Project Supervisor

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Preferred:  College degree in business, construction, engineering, or related field.
  • Valid Montana Drivers license
  • Five or more years experience in the home building construction of both spec. and custom homes.



  • Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate multiple tasks/projects with employees and/or sub-contractors on the site.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job cost, blue prints, legal documents (such as permits and scope of work), schedules and budgets pertaining to the project.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • Ability to work with, communicate with and respond to customers. Must understand and practice customer service as defined by Mostad Construction in its Mission statement and Customer Service policy.
  • Excellent knowledge of building codes and regulations and there applications to actual construction.
  • Basic computer skill and a willingness to learn and expand their skills. Basic understanding of Office 2000, excel, word and outlook.
  • A through knowledge of construction techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to manage vendors to complete project on time and with in purchase orders limits.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.



The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • BODY POSITIONS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time.  He/she may also be required to sit for long periods of time while performing the managerial functions such as preparation of forms, etc.
  • BODY MOVEMENTS:  The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to finger, handle, and feel objects such as computer equipment.  The ability to bend the body, to reach for objects, and to crouch when needed are also required.
  • BODY SENSES:  The employee must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to analyze the quality of the work preformed.
  • STRENGTH:  The employee must have the ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity.

The Project Supervisor receives authority from the President necessary to run the on site projects.  Such authority includes, but is not limited to:

  • Authority to organize, discipline, direct, coordinate, and evaluate construction personnel.
  • Authority to strictly enforce Company’s policies and procedures applicable to the construction department.
  • Within budgetary guidelines, authority to purchase construction, maintenance, tools, and supplies.
  • Authority to enforce the Company’s Safety Policies.
  • Authority to estimate, and negotiate, within company policies, change orders requested by the customer with the approval of the Sr. Estimator or President.



  • The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Project Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
  • Communicate effectively with the Customers/Clients.
  • Keep the President apprised of activities, job cost and issues in their assigned construction projects and construction in the Mostad targeted sales area.
  • Operate the construction project within established budget.
  • Prepare material takeoff on all assigned projects.
  • With the assistance of the Estimator, complete takeoffs and negotiate change orders with the customers following company guidelines.
  • Schedule construction and supervise assigned projects to meet all work order and contract commitments: on time, at or under budget, and to customer and company specifications and quality control standards.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports documenting project activities to the President, including those for construction activity and scheduling.
  • Supervise construction personnel to keep construction areas clean and free of debris.
  • Interview to fill construction positions with qualified personnel.  The President must approve new hires and compensation.
  • Train and cross-train all construction personnel and train an individual in the Company as backup for the Field Supervisor to cover absences.
  • Other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the President.
